In third grade, Sheela decided to be a writer. As she got older, she thought about being other things: a teacher, a musician, a student, a pool player, a waitress, a photographer, a detective, a dreamer, an explainer, a thinker, a comedian, an actress, a person who knows, and a person who still has a lot to learn. She's been most of these things while at her desk, writing. So far, her fiction has appeared in Ascent and Green Mountains Review. She has also published educational books for children with Children's Press, and has taught creative and expository writing classes at Boston University and New York University. Sheela holds an MFA in Creative Writing from NYU and lives in Westchester County with her husband and daughter.
